Our founders Robert (Bob) and Thomas (Tom) Sodemann both began their professional
careers as high school science teachers. In 1981 they launched Phones Plus, Inc.
to answer the ever-changing telecommunications industry which was evolving from
an AT&T monopoly to a competitive environment. A significant influence on the Sodemann
brothers was their father (Robert) who was an AT&T engineer. It was their father
who first told the boys that 90% of all businesses had 20% too many phone lines.
Armed with this information, they set out to uncover unused business phone lines
for Southeast Wisconsin businesses (with the help of their newly invented "Ultimate
Call Accounting") and turn that waste of money into purchasing an updated feature
rich phone system.
30 years and more than 4,000 phone systems later, Bob and Tom (along with numerous
sales consultants, engineers, technicians, customer advocates, and office personnel)
continue taking a "Global" approach to providing the best equipment and data/telecom
services in the industry. "You know, since 1981, we've never stopped looking at
all the pieces that make up the technology budget in a business and have worked
to reduce and simplify it to get the maximum benefit for our business partners"
says Tom.
